A refrigerant storage devise used on General Motors and Ford systems that received vapor and liquid refrigerant from the evaporator. The accumulator, which contains ‘desiccant’, performs a function similar to that of the receiver drier. The accumulator separates liquid from vapor, retains the liquid and released the vapor to the compressor. Always located on the low side of the system.
